Jonathan grew up in Orleans, Ontario, as one of nine children in a close-knit military family. He is fully bilingual, having attended French-language schools through grade 13. From a young age, Jonathan developed a strong work ethic and an appreciation for financial management through various jobs, including babysitting, delivering newspapers, and working in restaurants.
Jonathan earned a Bachelor's degree in Administration and an Honors Baccalaureate in Commerce from the University of Ottawa. During his studies, he gained valuable experience working for the U of O's Small Business Consulting Service and competing in the Inter-Collegiate Business Competition finals. He also completed an international traineeship with Crédit Industriel de Normandie in Rouen, France, further broadening his perspective.
With over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, Jonathan has built a career dedicated to helping clients achieve their financial and legacy goals. Prior to joining Optimize Wealth Management, he managed retail territories in the petroleum industry, where he supported business growth and profitability. In 1993, he transitioned to personal financial services, specializing in holistic wealth management, investment management, risk management, tax planning, and estate planning.
Jonathan holds several professional designations, including Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Investment Manager (CIM), Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI), Dementia-Friendly Financial Services Representative, and Certified Executor Advisor. These qualifications reflect his commitment to providing personalized, client-focused strategies. He believes in treating clients like family, fostering trust and confidence through transparency and professionalism.
A dedicated volunteer, Jonathan has contributed to several organizations, including the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Advocis Ottawa, and the Richelieu Laporte Service Club. Over his 15-year tenure with the Heart & Stroke Foundation, he held leadership roles at both the local and national levels, including chairing their pension committee. He remains passionate about giving back and is always seeking new opportunities to support his community.
Jonathan and his wife, Michèle, who also holds a BCom from the University of Ottawa, have been partners both in life and business since 1999. Together, they have two adult sons, Jason and Justin. Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys traveling and spending quality time with family and friends.
